孟村弯头管件业是特色优势产业。从上个世纪70年代末弯头管件业在孟村开始萌芽以来，这个既没有铁矿资源，也没有钢铁生产企业，更没有管件产品需求的小县，30年左右的时间里发展壮大起一个年产值近60亿元、年钢材吞吐量260万吨、产品占全国中低压市场80%以上的弯头管件特色产业。孟村的县域经济也伴随着弯头管件产业的发展迅速壮大，近几年呈现出跨越式发展的良好态势：2005年完成地区生产总值18亿元，同比增长22%；财政收入跃上亿元台阶，同比增长49.2%，比2002年翻一番；全省经济综合评价三年内跃升54个位次，走出了一条依靠发展特色经济实现跨越式发展的希望之路。
目前，孟村弯头管件行业总资产突破30亿元。现有1210家弯头管件企业，年吞吐量260万吨。吸纳了4.5万农民进厂从业，年产量占全国总产量的三分之一，其中中低压管件产量占到全国总产量的80%。营销网络遍布到台湾以外的所有省、市、自治区。产品除打入三峡工程、“西气东输”等众多国家重点工程外，还出口20多个国家和地区。孟村在1996年被国务院发展研究中心评定命名为“中国弯头管件之乡”后，并于2006年8月荣获“中国弯头管件之都”称号。
扣件业发展迅猛。在建筑扣件已成为孟村经济发展中的新亮点。截至2005年，孟村扣件企业发展到89家，年产扣件1.8亿套，占全国总产量的26%。产品广泛应用于全国各地众多大型建筑工程，生产的Ｍ牌扣件在历次国家产品质量联查中均获优等，成为国家定点产品。孟村，也已成为中国建筑扣件生产基地。
